Summer is perfect for one-day trips, picnics and just for enjoying a lunch sitting on the grass in the park. London parks are so overcrowded in this period. And it’s amazing!
Me, Nick and our beagle Chantal adore to go to the parks on weekends. I like to make lunch, pack it and eat it outdoors. More often I buy a few local cheeses, ham, fresh bread, jam and fruits. I also make wrapped food because it is easy to take it away. I never tried to make homemade wraps so it is my first flatbread. I want to say it’s a genius idea! Homemade flatbread are cheaper than in stores and are easy peasy to make. These flatbreads were made with wholegrain flour and without eggs. Just flour and yoghurt. And they are delicious trust me! It looks like I will never buy any wraps in the store again.
I’m kind of a quiche-obsessed person. Because I think it’s a very good nourish breakfast, like a breakfast 3-in-1. It’s also such a fun thing to choose pie filling. Fish or meat, or just vegetables… Vegetable pies are my favourites (like Spinach-Feta pie or Quiche Lorraine).
I’m not a vegetarian, but I don’t eat meat very often. To be honest, I forgot when I ate red meat the last time. That’s why I’m a huge fish lover!
Yesterday while thinking about what to make for breakfast I decided to make quiche with white fish. I added a bit of asparagus because it’s in season and I always have it in the kitchen.
I told you so many times how much I love courgette fritters, did I? This is one of my top-5 breakfast things. I make courgette fritters at least twice a week. I never get enough of them. Also they are so easy to make! It should be a healthier version with oven-roasting, but I like to fry them on non-stick pan and always add some dill or chives. I recommend to serve courgette fritters with soured cream or creme fraiche. Have a look!
Today is my absolutely happy Sunday! We’ve got up very early (if only you knew how I love early mornings!) packed some food into backpacks and will come out soon for the all day long walk in the park.
I really love walking. Yesterday I walked 7 km with my beagle Chantal and today I want more!
Fresh air, blackbird’s singing, Nick’s smile, my dog’s barking, picnic on the grass… these things make me an absolutely happy girl. Nothing is better than to eat some homemade food outdoor. In most cases we take some french and english cheeses, fresh bread or croissants and fruits. Sometimes I make wraps (with green salad, salmon, cucumber and hummus is my favourite) or just sandwiches.
What do you know about the perfect pie? What it should be for you? My main pie-rules are: the pastry is melting-in-your mouth, not over-dry filling, crispy crust. I usually make pies for breakfast preparing dough at the evening before. I make filling and bake my pie in the morning. It saves a lot of time.
You can find some my most loved pies in this blog and today I want to write some words about my perfect spinach pie!
I am a big vegetable lover! That’s true! I like to roast seasonal vegetables and serve them with different dips. I love to make green salads: it’s always like a game for me, which vegetables to combine for next time. But let’s talk about roasted vegetables today.
Yesterday the first snow has fallen. I love the feeling when you’re already awake and know that it’s snowfall outside. And you run as quickly as possible to see that you’re not wrong. I love feeling of warmth and coziness, when people run somewhere in a hurry and you are going to make some coffee and have breakfast. I always have some “lazy” recipes for days like that. Today I’ll share one with you. What you know about crumble? Juicy fruits and berries, baked with a crispy crust. But not all crumbles are sweet. This one is with pumpkin and chorizo. Read More
Today I want to share a recipe of interesting french pie – Quiche Lorraine. This is a traditional french pastry. It preparing from the simplest and chip ingredients. I think this is one of those pies, in which you can fall in love or be disappointed. I fell in love with quiche lorraine and cook it sometimes. The main ingredient in this pie is stewed onions! It’s taste like stewed cabbage, but softer. You can add or no the cheese, as your like. But the main rule – always cut the onion very thin, because in this case the filling was perfectly soft and creamy. Anyway, try it and you will be surprised what a wonderful are onions in the baking! The beginning of August is too hot now! And I don’t even want to think about cakes. Fruit and berries, all I need now. I want to share with you a very simple but tasty and impressive dessert – roasted peaches with vanilla beans. I propose to serve them hot, with a scoop of ice cream.
When I was a kid, my family loved to go in the woods in search of mushrooms. I couldn’t wait for those little travels. Mom usually stayed near the car, when me and my dad took the baskets and knives, walked into the woods in search of mushrooms. These were really magical moments – finding a very big mushroom yourself! After that we returned with a basket full of mushrooms (in our area boletus were more spread than other mushrooms), we went home, washed and cleaned mushrooms for the whole evening, and waited for the best delicious dinner from my mom. Fried mushrooms with potatoes.
