Today is my absolutely happy Sunday! We’ve got up very early (if only you knew how I love early mornings!) packed some food into backpacks and will come out soon for the all day long walk in the park.
I really love walking. Yesterday I walked 7 km with my beagle Chantal and today I want more!
Fresh air, blackbird’s singing, Nick’s smile, my dog’s barking, picnic on the grass… these things make me an absolutely happy girl. Nothing is better than to eat some homemade food outdoor. In most cases we take some french and english cheeses, fresh bread or croissants and fruits. Sometimes I make wraps (with green salad, salmon, cucumber and hummus is my favourite) or just sandwiches.
There are not many Sundays when I don’t want to bake anything. On such days I mostly bake brownies. Last Sunday I decided to make something absolutely easy (but not brownies) and use a bit of sweet fresh strawberries which were just bought at the farmer market. I mixed some ingredients and I got my cake. There was an important thing that made my cake so good that I decided to share it with you. It had the crustiest crust ever! Fresh juicy strawberries, sponge yoghurt cake and amazing crust… Read More
What do you know about the perfect pie? What it should be for you? My main pie-rules are: the pastry is melting-in-your mouth, not over-dry filling, crispy crust. I usually make pies for breakfast preparing dough at the evening before. I make filling and bake my pie in the morning. It saves a lot of time.
You can find some my most loved pies in this blog and today I want to write some words about my perfect spinach pie!
What products do you have at home anytime? My answer will be eggs, butter and milk. I also have flour and sugar in my cupboard. It turns out that I always have crumble in my kitchen! Flour, butter, sugar and berries are all we need for it!
Crumble is a traditional British baked dessert, which consists of berries or fruits and shortbread crust.
Today I want to share my simplest sweet recipe. One thing I’ve changed, I’ve replaced all-purpose flour on whole-grain and I have got an amazing result! You can see it yourselves.
Summer is over, and it means that the season of pumpkins, apples, pears and grapes has begun. I love autumn very much, and I’m ready to speak about this love for a very long time. Autumn breakfasts are the most cozy and loved for me. Because you’re sitting in warmth, sipping your hot coffee with milk and watching people outdoor, who are rushing to work. But you feel good, you’re home …
The beginning of August is too hot now! And I don’t even want to think about cakes. Fruit and berries, all I need now. I want to share with you a very simple but tasty and impressive dessert – roasted peaches with vanilla beans. I propose to serve them hot, with a scoop of ice cream.
My mother and granny often baked some special cookies for me, when I was a little girl. That cookies were called “Fantasy”. I loved the well baked crispy and berry stuffing. Mom usually cooked them with blackcurrant jam. But I decided to modify this option and added fresh berries and add some lemon zest and lemon juice, because I love how the lemon emphasises the taste of berries. It’s a new version of cookies from my childhood, but it’s so lovely! By the way, you can use any berries you like for stuffing. And I advice you to adjust the amount of sugar to your own taste, because personally I prefer the sour stuffing with sweet dough.
It’s a very pleasant feeling when you pick berries in the forest, and then bake a pie with them. They are the best pies in the world. I love berry pies, and this time I decide to cook pie with wild strawberries. And it was very tasty. But still remains, the best for me is blueberry pie, and I will share it with you, but later)
Tart Tatin is upside-down cake with caramelised apples. I don’t like apples in the pastry and this tatin with beets caught my attention. I never used them in baking, but now I fell in love with this tart. Sweet beets with caramel flavour on a gentle crust. I advice you to serve with sour cream or yogurt, they suit perfectly. To be honest, this is my first Tart Tatin and I can confidently say that it is quite simple to prepare, if done carefully. It can be a great breakfast or appetizer. You will not stay indifferent!
